Um…Bacon Awareness Week Anyone?

I have no idea who the owner of this tattoo is, but I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw it.

Bacon is actually good food as long as it comes from pigs that were fed well and the bacon is cured properly.  I wouldn’t touch factory-farmed bacon, but my whole family has bacon several times a week.  It’s cured by a guy named Nick in small batches and made from pastured hogs fed a healthy diet.

The fat in bacon is slightly high in omega 6 fatty acids, but it’s not nearly as bad as the levels in soy oils.  If the bacon is not cooked to death (crispy) then it’s a great way to start the day.  Done right, it can actually lower your cholesterol and keep you energized until lunch.  I’d pick bacon and eggs over oatmeal ANY morning when I wanted highest performance throughout the day, and the science backs me up.
