For such a long time, I’ve wanted to create an easy keto ice cream recipe — you know, without the typical frozen bananas, dates, and dairy that are often in them. I came across the Bulletproof Get Some Ice Cream recipe (another keto-friendly option) a few years ago and absolutely fell in love with this creamy delight. However not long after discovering it, I found out that I was intolerant to eggs. This unfortunately meant that I had to miss out on ice cream altogether until I created an alternative recipe that was egg-, sugar-, dairy-, gluten-, grain-, and nut-free. So after experimenting a lot, overthinking the recipe way too much, and wasting loads of expensive ingredients in failed ice cream attempts, I had an epiphany — to just keep it simple. That’s when I thought of blending frozen coconut cream ice cubes with avocado to create an incredibly easy, yet creamy two-ingredient keto ice cream recipe. Then simply add in cocoa powder, vanilla, cinnamon, a sweetener of your choice, and so on to flavor it to your own taste buds. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do.

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 13 ounces coconut cream, frozen into ice cubes
  • 1-3 Tbsp of cocoa powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Sweetener to taste (I used stevia)

Optional Add-ins: vanilla, cinnamon, cardamom, food-grade orange or peppermint essential oil


  1. Add all of the ingredients to a blender or food processor and blitz until it becomes a smooth, creamy consistency. You may need to scrape down the sides of the bowl and re-blend a few times. If you’re struggling to get it to blend into a smooth, ice-creamy consistency, add 1 Tbsp of water very slowly until it looks rich and silky.
  2. Taste the ice cream and adjust any of the flavors, or add sweetness if needed.
  3. When it’s ready, scoop into 2 bowls and enjoy immediately.
